FAQs of Thermostatic Radiator Valve
1. What’s the working principle of a thermostatic radiator valve?
The temperature-sensing element inside the valve head directly detects indoor temperature. When the room warms up, the heat-sensitive medium inside expands. It creates a thrust that moves the valve stem, automatically cutting down the hot water flow into the radiator. As the room cools, the heat-sensitive medium shrinks. The valve stem resets under the spring’s force, allowing more hot water to flow in.
The whole process needs no external power. It uses only mechanical components to automatically adjust the room temperature. This way, it accurately controls indoor temperature, keeping the space comfortable and saving energy.

2. Can produce RAL-colored TRV thermostatic heads for high-end projects?
Of course, we can. We offer valve heads with customized RAL colors.
You just need to give us the specific RAL color code. We’ll mix the color to the standard. We’ll also send you color samples for confirmation before mass production. This makes sure the finished product’s color matches your design needs exactly.
Plumberstar uses electrostatic powder coating, electrophoretic coating, or PVD surface treatment. The coating sticks well and is wear-resistant and scratch-proof. It can withstand bumps during installation and daily use. Even when it’s near radiators in high temperatures for a long time, it won’t fade or peel easily.
It’s not just the valve head. The valve body also supports matching color surface treatment. For example, a full matte-black set—from valve head to valve body —the color is completely uniform. This makes the look cleaner and more high-end. It meets the overall matching and consistency requirements of high-end projects.
3. Can a thermostatic radiator valve be used in single-pipe heating systems?
Of course. For single-pipe heating systems, we offer a complete solution: thermostatic radiator valves and dedicated single-pipe bypass valves.
This solution uses a linkage design between the thermostatic valve and bypass valve:
- When the room reaches the set temperature, and the thermostatic valve shuts off, the bypass valve opens automatically. It lets hot water keep flowing to the next radiators through the bypass pipe.
- When the thermostatic valve opens for heating, the bypass valve closes right away. All hot water flows through the radiator, boosting the room’s heating efficiency.
This linkage fixes the “close one set, cool a whole series” problem in traditional single-pipe systems. It doesn’t affect the hydraulic balance of the entire system and balances both comfort and system stability.
This complete solution works with both exposed and concealed single-pipe systems. It’s suitable for residential buildings, apartments, and old system renovation projects.
What’s more, we can customize the full configuration to match your actual single-pipe heating system type.
4. Does the thermostatic radiator valve offer a remote sensor TRV head?
Plumberstar offers thermostatic valve heads with external remote temperature sensors.
This valve head comes with an independent remote sensor. It connects to the valve head body with a high-temperature-resistant cable—standard length is 1.5 m, with a 3 m extension cable available for more flexible installation.
The remote sensor valve head meets the same quality standards and goes through the same testing as regular thermostatic valve heads. The valve head body, sensor, and connecting cables are all covered by warranty. For non-human quality issues—such as temperature sensing deviations or wiring faults—we provide free replacements and technical support.
5. What is the MOQ for OEM thermostatic radiator valve orders?
Plumberstar offers different OEM customization levels, each with specific minimum order quantities (MOQs):
- Basic OEM – Includes simple customizations such as logo printing or packaging changes, with no modifications to molds. MOQ: 500 sets. For new customers placing trial orders, the MOQ can be negotiated down to 100 sets.
- Advanced OEM – Includes minor functional adjustments, such as fine-tuning the Kv value or adapting to special interfaces, without opening new molds. This also applies to smart versions with electronic components or remote sensing. MOQ: 1000 sets
- Full/Deep OEM – Involves structural modifications to valve bodies or thermostatic heads and requires opening new molds. MOQ: 3000 sets

6. Are third-party test reports available for thermostatic radiator valves?
Of course. Plumberstar thermostatic radiator valves come with complete, valid third-party test reports. These reports are issued by internationally authoritative labs like TÜV and SGS, or by accredited testing institutions designated by you. This ensures the reports are recognized worldwide and meet the compliance needs of engineering projects, tenders, and end customers.
For every batch of products, we can provide a copy of the corresponding third-party test report. We can also send the original report separately if you need it. The report includes all key details: the testing institution’s qualification certificate, test data, and conclusions. It’s fully traceable and verifiable, making project acceptance and subsequent quality tracking much easier.
If you have special testing needs—such as performance tests under specific working conditions or verification of non-standard parameters—Plumberstar can work with third-party labs to create a custom test plan. We’ll then issue a tailored test report, ensuring the products fully meet your project’s specific compliance requirements.
7. Can the packaging of the thermostatic radiator valve be customized?
Of course. Plumberstar provides a full one-stop OEM/ODM packaging customization service. You just need to send us your logo or packaging design files—vector formats like AI and EPS are recommended. Our design team will quickly produce packaging renderings and arrange sample confirmation. Once you confirm the samples, we can start mass production right away.
Packaging customization is done alongside product production. The mass production cycle is the same as standard orders, with no extra delay to delivery time. All customized packaging is tested for drop, compression, and more before shipment. It meets export transportation standards, ensuring products remain safe during international shipping.
We support in-depth packaging matching for OEM/ODM products, tailored to your brand needs. This boosts the overall professionalism and added value of your products. We also offer free packaging design consulting to help you optimize your packaging solution. And we’ll add or print compliance information, such as CE marks and environmental certifications, as required by your target market. This ensures the packaging meets local market access and customs clearance rules.
