Ball Valve – Solution

This is about the ball valve story, and we met with Roland in 2020. He found our website from Google. He has interested in several ball valves.

After the email, we analyzed the customer’s requirements and local market laws and regulations. The ball valve in Australia needs WATERMARK certification, and the material is CW602N. The ball, stem, PTFE sealing, and handle have special requirements.

2nd, we communicated with Roland by phone call. They are a distributor, and their main business is related to sanitary ware products. He does not know much about ball valves, only that they must be used for water control on the water pipe. It’s the first time to look for a valve manufacturer of them.

3rd, according to Roland’s little information, We need to know more details to provide a better solution. We checked out the requirements of the plumbing market and the relevant regulations of the valve, AS2345-2006. We analyzed the local needs of Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. DR material test, the local rules of the length of the BSP thread, and the handle should be replaced by SS304. It is related to the handle raw materials, including surface treatment, third-party inspection, etc.

4th, We provide an accurate set of CAD 2D drawings and add 3D three-dimensional drawings to help customers understand. So it took us about 3 working days to summarize all the information and customer requirements. Then, we gave the information and data to the technical department for processing.

Client’s Request and Solution

5th, We confirmed all the parts about a week later, including valve body, valve stem, valve ball, sealing rubber, pressure, and warp. So we decided I take all the drawings and make an appointment with the customer. We finally got a video conference with Roland at 13:00 local afternoon due to the Australian time. We are happy about it.

6th, Mr. Roland was pleased with the technical support and solution. But there are two issues needed to be improved as this request. Namely, the compression nut needed to be changed from SS201 to SS304 stainless steel, which is for the stem and handle tight. And for the 2nd one, for better sealing of the stem, we advised that we could add an O-ring. So our solution will consider it and check if it can change it. So it took another five working days to change the design at first, but we checked to make a new sample for testing in our lab for further tests because it needed to be retested for temperature, water pressure, life, and torque. Water pressure, life, and torque test, and not simply change the drawings and programs.

7th, We finalized the drawings and technical details at the end. And we provided a quotation based on a quantity of 3,000, but Roland’s request was challenging. They only request 1,000 ball valves by each in the first trial order, from 1/2.3/4 and 1 inch. And that they could only pay for the tooling after the product was received and tested by their QC. Because they are a large group and not easy to change the rules, all the procedures are very complicated, and paperwork will take a long period, so he hopes we can consider it and solve it by our side.

8th, We finally agreed on this proposal after our discussion. Furthermore, we added to provide free third-party shipping inspection customs clearance. The customer is also quite happy we offer free samples and afford the courier costs before mass production. However, the project can not be smoothly advanced.

9th, Everything is ready for mass production after sending samples. “Could you provide three finishes, sandblasted, sandblasted and nickel-plated, sandblasted, and chrome-plated .”Roland asked that” A bit is challenging for us. The 3 finishes are made from forging, but three treatments are okay. But it will take a high cost. And the package of design has to change again. Roland said they understood our situation about the trial order. But their headquarters needed ABC color testing to understand the market consumer preferences. According to the customer’s request,

Tenth, after the preliminary grinding, we finally got the project. There are about 5-6 cabinets per year. Mr.Roland is very nice, and he gives us a lot of shower accessories and products after the valve project. Anyway, the senior management finally agreed to provide all the services and afford these costs by Plumberstar. However, the polishing and plating requirements are extremely high. (mainly for bathing, bath above the fittings, and accessories). We still patiently give solutions, send samples, and improve product quality. Slowly, after mutual friction, both sides have More and more trust and tacit understanding.

When buying ball valves, you need to be careful about the raw material, PN, DN, work stability, lifetime, and warranty terms. Of course, you also need to be professional and detailed and keep patience to take good notes because the details are easy to ignore.

General Applications For Ball Valve

The ball valve is a simple device that can be used for various purposes. It consists of a metal ball that is placed inside a cylindrical container. When the valve is open, the ball can move up and down freely. When it is closed, the ball blocks the flow of fluid.

This versatile device has several applications. It can be used to regulate the flow of water in plumbing systems, control the air pressure in pneumatic systems, and isolate sections of piping in process systems. In addition, it can also be used as an emergency shut-off valve.

The ball valve is made from brass, making it durable and resistant to corrosion. It also has a low friction coefficient,

The brass ball valve is a type of valve that controls the flow of gas, liquid or fluid through pipes. It`s also known as a globe valve and it`s most commonly used in plumbing applications. The first kind of ball valves were made out of wrought iron, but they soon became obsolete when cast bronze was invented. Brass has been the material of choice for these valves ever since its invention in 1832 because it is durable, easy to work with and inexpensive.
Steel fittings are occasionally used on brass balls if there needs to be some sort of sealant applied before installation or if there will be high pressure present at the connection point.

Ball valves are a type of valve that has been around for centuries. They have been used in various industries, including water, oil, and gas. In this blog post, we will be discussing how ball valves work, the different types of ball valves available, and what to look for when purchasing a ball valve.
Ball Valves: How do they work? As stated earlier, ball valves are designed to control or stop the flow of fluids or gases through them by rotating one way or another with a top handle. Ball valves come in many different shapes and sizes, but they all function similarly. The inside part can be threaded so it can screw onto pipes, while the outside has an opening where you need to put your hand

Ball valves are one of the most important components in a plumbing system. They allow for easy flow control and can even be used as shut-off valves during emergencies. However, there is a lot more to them than meets the eye. The size of your ball valve will depend on the amount of pressure you need it to withstand, but generally speaking, they come in a few different sizes:1/4",3/8",1/2".3/4",1",1-1/4",1-1/2" 2", 3" and 4",6" and 8."

Different ball valves have different sizes, and the valve you need will depend on how much water is going through it. For example, you're looking for a small valve that can fit into tight spaces like plumbing under sinks or in bathroom cabinets.

There are different treatments for the finish of the ball.

  1. sandblasted finish
  2. Original brass finish
  3. sandblasted with nickel-plated
  4. Sandblasted with chrome-plated
  5. polished finish
  6. polished with chrome-plated
  7. special treatment finish

There are many reasons why you might need to buy a ball valve. Maybe you’re remodeling your kitchen and need to install a new sink, or perhaps you’re a plumber who needs to replace an old ball valve.
