The mini ball valve is a quarter-turn type ball valve used for shut-off application in the pipework. The handle can be rotated at 90 degrees to open or close the valve. It is a threaded end ball valve where one side has a female thread, and the other has a female thread.

Mini-ball valves are ideal for use in small, confined spaces where larger valves are unnecessary. They are suitable for residential and light commercial applications in domestic hot and cold water systems, natural or bottled gas, and compressed air systems.

Working principle of mini ball valves:

Mini ball valves come in various materials, but they all work similarly. A rotary ball and a bore should be present in the center of this type of valve. The ball valve rotates the lever perpendicular to the flow around an axis. The valve remains open when the hole in the ball is perpendicular to the flow. It also stays closed when the valve handles twist in the opposite direction at 90 degrees. The valve seat seals the ball’s edge opening by flowing around it. This happens when the ball is open for a long time during a high-pressure drop. As a result, the ball bounces around in the seats. The small ball valve traps the media in the central cavity when it’s in the closed position. When we rotate the ball, a quarter-turn, the bore can become parallel or perpendicular to the piping.

It allows us to open or close the flow of information in the media.

Installation of mini ball valve:

The proper installation procedure depends on the type of mini-ball valve.

But the following is a general procedure for installing this unit:

As a mini ball valve is bi-directional, you should know that you can install it in any direction. But, verification is necessary to confirm that the pipework is free of dirt. Some of the debris, burs, and cutting residues by flushed out. And this is essential because it protects the ball valve’s seat from damage. Using suitable pipework proper technique, raise the tiny ball valve into place and secure it.

Losing the bolts and removing the end connections from the valve body depends on the type of valve. While doing it, be sure to save the end seals. The next step is to thread the nuts into the pipe ends and attach the end connectors to the prepared pipe ends.

Connect the valve to the pipework by tightening the bolts after inserting the end seals into the recess in the valve body. Fit stub flanges and backing rings to each end of the pipe for flanged end micro ball valves. Then, use a suitable gasket between the valve flanges and the stub. Also, the bolt the ball valve between the flanges. Perform system pressure testing with the valve fitted in the open position.

It helps to keep the chairs from becoming compressed.
